Another Malmo Gem

Well, what a hectic few weeks it has been! We have just spent the weekend packing up three bedrooms and putting all the furniture into storage, and getting ready for all of the carpet in the house to be ripped up on Tuesday! To say I am excited is an understatement. We have decided to renovate the three bedrooms for now – plaster skimming the walls, painting, lighting and new carpet. I promise to put some before and after photos up when it’s all done!

I came across this house when perusing Bolaget, one of the many Scandinavian real estate websites I often visit. (One of the best places other than Pinterest for some great inspiration!) This place is for sale in Malmo, Sweden for just over $500,000 NZD – a pretty sweet deal compared to what we can get over here for the same price!

Blanc Canvas

This beautiful home situated near Malmö in Southern Sweden, is drop. dead. gorgeous! I love the expanse of white walls, the soft neutral tones of the furnishings, and the amazing open plan layout of this former brick vicarage.

This home actually happens to be on the market right now. If only…

DIY Quilt Light by Tamara Maynes

Tamara Maynes is a New South Wales based designer, who has recently taken up the position of craft contributor at Inside Out magazine. If you just happen to be Sydney based, check out The School, where Tamara teaches a variety of craft classes.

This super nifty quilt light was originally designed for a feature in Inside out, and it then went on to feature with Supercyclers at the Milan Design week in April of this year.

The quilt light is not sold as a finished product – instead, you purchase it as a downloadable template, and choose your own custom details.  Once the template is purchased, you can make as many as you like, in any size you want, and you can choose whether you paint it, tape it or stitch it!

Apparently, fashion designer Marc Jacobs made his own version of Tamara’s Quilt Light for display in London’s iconic Liberty store during the London Design Festival this year.

You can purchase a Quilt Light template for $20 from Tamara’s online store, and check out the daily posts on her gorgeous blog.

I came across todays post on Weekday Carnival, and couldn’t go past the quirky cat print. Don’t you love the way all the pieces are styled on the worktop?

I wish had the knack of styling rooms to look like these! Instead, I have to pin all of these beautiful things, and study them intensely, before having any idea of what to do…

What tips and tricks do you have when displaying your bits and bobs??
